"PROJECT FRONT ROW"

— In the fall of 2009, Interview seized on a cultural shift in fashion and media that seemed to be transforming the front row into the main attraction during the seasonal collections by asking photographer Mikael Jansson to capture an array of fashion-world insiders in intimate settings during the Paris shows that October. The project was a play off the emergent vernacular of personal imagery, the popularity of reality-competition shows, and the phenomenon of "fast" fashion. We crashed the portfolio into the December 2009/January 2010 issue, which hit the streets barely four weeks later. The following year, Instagram launched.
